About SCDHC

SCDHC’s mission is to use a holistic approach to create viable, thriving and sustainable communities.

We achieve this by providing residential and commercial development, homeownership education and counseling, financial counseling and coaching, employment services, and supportive programs to low-income families throughout the Central Virginia region.

With over thirty years of experience, we use our expertise to help individuals and families build their wealth and prepare them for homeownership. SCDHC is one of the largest single-family non-profit housing developers in the Richmond Metro Area and has developed over 450 affordable single-family homes. Through our HUD-approved housing counseling program, we’ve helped thousands of individuals and families purchase homes.

With the launch of the Financial Opportunity Center® Program in 2019, SCDHC offers employment placement and coaching services, credit and budget counseling, and benefits coaching in English and Spanish to help our clients move towards greater confidence and financial stability.

We’re passionate about working with families and individuals every step of the way.
